On 8 August 2011, ASEAN celebrates the 44th anniversary of its establishment. On this day, ASEAN also celebrates its developments and achievements over the past years. The theme for this year’s ASEAN Day celebration is “Unity in Diversity”. It was also celebrated in Malaysia Embassy in Rome, Italy.
ASEAN Day this year is also historical as it marks the first time the ASEAN Flag is flown next to the national flags of all ASEAN Member States at ASEAN National Secretariats, Diplomatic and Consular Missions in ASEAN Member States and dialogue partners including all Member States of the EU. By 8 August 2012, all remaining Diplomatic and Consular Missions of all ASEAN Member States will be flying the ASEAN Flag next to their national flags.
